THE ASSISTANT FOR MAYOR - Press Release (Poster Version)

In 2007 THE AQUARIUM L-13 (the forerunner to L-13) created a candidate for Mayor of London and started a campaign (which mostly consisted of designing policy posters) for the 2008 elections. This was the press release, but only a handful were ever sent out as they were expensive to produce and our PR company at the time thought it was rude and unfathomable. The candidate was known as THE ASSISTANT and he withdrew from the Mayoral race at the nomination stage due to the lack of organisational and political will, the lack of the £20,000 needed to enter the next stage, and the unsurmountable problems of being imaginary.

This is the "gender alternative" edition with the word "cunts" crossed out and replaced with "pricks" in red pen. It is also signed by THE ASSISTANT with his real name Abraham Thunderwolf, and comes with an L-13 letter of provenance.

THE ASSISTANT FOR MAYOR - Arts and Culture Policy Poster

This was one of our favourite campaign posters designed by The Janitor of STOT21stCplanB. The image of the Tate with smoke billowing out of its chimney was used again for the National Art Hate Week campaign. In this version know as "Bring Back the Smoke Stacks" it is proposed that when THE ASSISTANT becomes Mayor he will instigate regular art burnings with the artworks chosen by the public with Big Brother style voting. Not much is offered in the way of reason for this, other than it would be "funny and entertaining".

This was one of the most popular campaign posters which was worrying as THE ASSISTANT said that the most popular posters would be implemented as real policy when he got into power.
